LAHORE: Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal said he was offered tobecome captain of the national T20 squad but declined.

In an interview to a foreign website, Ajmal said the offer to become captain was made in April following the resignation of Muhammad Hafeez.
According to Ajmal he preferred being part of the team as a player and leading as captain no easy job. Ajmal added the captain would be blamed for losses.

The off-spinner praised Misbahul Haq stating that the ODI and test captain was unnecessarily criticised. Ajmal further said Misbah’s performance as captain was better than Imran Khan’s tenure.
